Brigadeiro – Brazil’s Famous Chocolate Truffle
No Brazilian party is complete without Brigadeiro. These small, fudgy chocolate truffles are soft, rich, and rolled in chocolate sprinkles. They take only 3 ingredients and 15 minutes to make, yet they’re the star of every birthday and celebration.
Ingredients:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp butter
Chocolate sprinkles for coating
How to Make It:
In a saucepan, mix condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter.
Cook on low heat, stirring constantly for 8-10 minutes until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the pan.
Let it cool, then roll into small balls with buttered hands.
Roll each ball in chocolate sprinkles and place in paper cups.
Why It’s Loved:
Brigadeiro is soft, not too sweet, and has that deep chocolate flavor Brazilians grew up with. Kids and adults both go crazy for it.
Serving Tip: Serve chilled for a firmer bite, or at room temperature for a gooey center. It also works as a cake filling.
Fun Fact: The name “Brigadeiro” comes from a Brazilian Air Force officer in the 1940s. The sweet was created to support his presidential campaign.
